Abstract
The Senior Design CSL Behring Plasma Bottle Automation Design team is attempting to automate the process of plasma bottle scanning and loading plasma bottles into water channels. Currently, this process is performed manually though trained, hired technicians. This leads to the potential of human error, reduces the overall efficiency of the process, and requires the attention of several operators. The goal is to minimize operator interactions, reducing cost and errors while increasing efficiency. We are proposing a design solution that automatically handles the scanning and loading processes. An operator is required to unload the plasma bottles into the system, but the rest of the process is hands-free. We have detailed designs of each of the subsystems and a plan for their implementation at CSL Behring.
