Abstract

This study and its findings represent the various perspectives of all participants as it relates to school culture and the impact, if any, that it has on retaining teachers who received certification via an alternative route. The participants were all graduates of a 16- month-long alternative certification program at a midwestern university and, at the time of the study, were currently teaching or had been previously assigned to teach in various urban school districts.
