This publication is intended to serve as a reference for resource planners, managers, environmental scientists, policy makers, and others interested in wetland resources. It also provides valuable baseline data for future analyses."

J.R. Black was an advocate for the conservation of the Kankakee River and spent many years collecting data and working with multiple organizations to preserve the Kankakee River Valley.
