Abstract
The proposal request submitted by Peddinghaus in September for an automated vacuum attachment is currently being fulfilled by a team of engineering students at Olivet Nazarene University. The problem presented revolves around metal shavings created during the drilling process of Peddinghaus machinery. These shavings need to be contained and collected in an automated manner. To solve this problem, the design team constructed models for a vacuum enclosure surrounding the bit, manipulated vertically by a pneumatic actuator.
