Abstract
In an effort to “Raise the Bar” (Mehta & Doctor, 2013) in education, Illinois teacher education candidates have been required to complete the edTPA for licensure since the Fall of 2015. With a rising cut score from 35 to 41 over a four year period, it is expected that institutions will become more familiar with the edTPA, implement edTPA supports throughout their programs, and show gradual improvement over time. What story does an examination of the National, State, and Institutional data from the past three years tell us? Is gradual improvement is being achieved? Are there rubrics or tasks that are more difficult? Further examination of the National, State, and Institutional edTPA data will determine where candidates are likely to improve their edTPA score and identify areas where the data shows an unlikely chance of improvement.
