Abstract

Teacher candidates seeking licensure in middle grades (6th - 8th) must take EDUC 214 - Early Adolescent Development. As a summative and cumulative assignment, they create a unique 'Break the Mold' Middle School.

Their schools must follow the AMLS (American Middle Level Schools) guidelines for mission statements, and building and classroom designs. They must also include other categories as prescribed in the course syllabus.

Teacher candidates may create their schools anywhere in the world and any design they wish. Money is not a factor!
