The use of video via mobile technology is becoming an effective way tell stories and market. The authors developed and presented a workshop session at an international conference with attendees from all over the world. Led by Dr. Heather McLaughlin (Professor of Communication), the workshop sought to train leaders in concepts for telling good stories and provide technological tools for production.
The students, all Multimedia Communication majors, were also commissioned to gather footage and interviews during the event. This opportunity allowed the students to use their videography/editing, interviewing and production skills in a real-world, cross-cultural situation.
In this presentation, the authors discuss the process of creating the workshop content, address cross-cultural challenges, reflect on lessons learned and suggest future considerations.
