Abstract

As ONU focuses on increasing student persistence, one logical target population of students would be those that have not had the academic support and success in high school to fully prepare them for the rigors of college work. Students who experience poverty often report feeling ill-prepared for college coursework and have been shown to lack a sense of belonging due to being minoritized and historically marginalized. One approach to improving student outcomes for these students is the development of a CCTP, or Comprehensive College Transition Program. The presentation will explore best practices for the content and implementation of a CCTP and discuss the implications of such a program for Olivet Nazarene University.
